What if I can’t be hypnotized?
What if I fall asleep?
Will I remember what happens?
How many sessions will I need?

I was first introduced to hypnotherapy when I was given the gift of a consultation with a well-known hypnotherapist at the University of Utah. It was just enough of a positive experience for me to understand what a powerful tool hypnotherapy could be in my life to make the changes I really wanted to make.
I consider myself fortunate to have found my teacher and mentor, W. Dennis Parker and his Certified Hypnotherapy Training School. With Dennis’s help, I received Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist credentials from the American Council of Hypnotist Examiners. Clinical certification qualifies me to help you using age regression, inner child and gestalt techniques in addition to regular suggestion hypnotherapy. I’m also trained in a process developed by Dennis called Spiritual Mind Management, in which we learn to “turn up” positive and beneficial thoughts and “turn down” negative and harmful ones.
Part of my certification training was putting in quite a bit of personal “chair time”. I understand feeling apprehensive about the process and worrying about what might be said or done. However, the changes I’ve seen in my own life, thanks to hypnotherapy, make me wish I started hypnotherapy much, much sooner.
Like most people, my life path hasn’t always been smooth or easy. I can understand and relate with many of the life challenges you may have experienced or may be experiencing including obesity, crippling fears, allergies and serious illnesses, relationship problems, divorce, parenting stress and self-esteem issues.I’m the mother of four wonderful sons and a career librarian. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, baking and soap making.
Clients constantly tell me, “That wasn’t what I expected.” Once you realize what hypnosis is not, it’s easier to see how beneficial hypnotherapy will be for you.
Hypnotherapy is not mind control, being told what to do or brainwashing. I can’t make you rob a bank, fall in love or cluck like a chicken unless those are things you want to do anyway.
So what is hypnosis exactly?
Hypnosis is a deeply relaxed state of hyper-suggestibility in which suggestions more easily bypass the conscious mind and go directly to the subconscious. Traditional talk therapy can be beneficial but doesn’t generally get to the root of the problem. When you and I align your conscious and subconscious minds through hypnosis, we’re able to work together to figure out what deep-seated beliefs are negatively affecting your behaviors, moods and decisions. Again, working together, we challenge and change those beliefs to the point you can now move forward without hesitation, inhibition, fear or procrastination.Pondering and meditation are synonyms for hypnosis. Think of hypnotherapy as your own personal problem solving session. In fact, all hypnosis is self-hypnosis. It’s not something I do to you, it’s something you do to and for yourself. My role as hypnotherapist is to guide and facilitate your own decision making process. Your hypnotherapy sessions will be as successful as you allow them to be.
